West Ham United v Hull City Odds and Betting Preview

Championship action Saturday Lunch Time comes from the Boleyn Ground featuring West Ham United versus Hull City.

The whole game is being shown Live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition, with a scheduled 12:30pm (BST) Kick Off Time.

West Ham head into this game with everything still left to play for as they try to secure automatic promotion back to the Premiership, but face a tough looking game against Hull City who despite their season being over will still want to finish the season on a high note.

West Ham are currently 2pts behind second placed Southampton who play their final game of the season at home against relegated Coventry City, so it looks highly unlikely that even with a victory West Ham will secure that all important second place finish.

West Ham United v Hull City Team News

Sam Allardyce will be without Nicky Maynard, John Carew and Joey O’Brien will all be missing with respective injuries. George McCartney is available though having recovered from concussion that has kept him out of the previous three matches.

Nick Barmby also has injuries with Skipper Jack Hobbs, Joe Dudgeon and striker Aaron McLean all out. Robert Koren is expected to return to the starting lineup though having taken a knock in last weekend’s victory over Nottingham Forest.

West Ham United v Hull City Head to Head Statistics

Saturday Lunch Times fixture will become just the 6th meeting between the two clubs over the years and all the results of the previous matches can be viewed in our head to head statistics table shown below.

  • West Ham United Victories : 3 (2 at the Boleyn Ground Stadium)
  • Draws : 1 (0 at the Boleyn Ground Stadium)
  • Hull City Victories : 1 (0 at the Boleyn Ground Stadium)

The Scouts Match Verdict

West Ham dominate the head to head statistics having won more games overall and having won more times when having home advantage and with Sam Allardyce’s side knowing that they need all three points from this game to have any hope of securing that all important automatic promotion spot it’s difficult to give Hull City much chance of causing an upset in this one.

No surprise then to see the online bookmakers having the hosts priced up as the clear odds on favourites to win this game 1.50 currently the best price available from Coral and for me that is a little bit on the short side.

Hull City have nothing really to play for but as soon as news filters through that Southampton have taken the lead against Coventry, it’s inevitable that the West Ham players heads will drop and this could see Hull City making a game of it and we could end up seeing a very exciting game.
