Manchester City v Manchester United Betting Preview

Manchester City v Manchester United Betting Preview

Manchester City v Manchester United Betting PreviewPremiership action Monday Night comes from the Etihad Stadium and features Manchester City v Manchester United.

The whole game is being shown Live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition, with a scheduled 20:00pm (BST) Kick Off Time.

The game everyone has been looking forward too and one that will surely decide which of these two clubs will win the 2012 Premiership Title. Manchester City dominated the league table for most of the season until hitting a bad run, which saw Manchester United take control at the top, but both clubs have found it difficult to stay there and come Monday night at the Etihad Stadium, something has to give.

Manchester United have a 3pt lead at the top of the Premiership League Table at the moment, but do have a much lower goal difference than Manchester City which would mean a home win by Manchester City would see them retake the top spot from Manchester United on the goal difference rule.

Manchester City have home advantage and having already beaten Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford in the first meeting between the two sides this season you can expect Roberto Mancini’s side to be brimming with confidence of being able to get the job done and with a certain Carlos Tevez back involved in the squad and scoring goals, Manchester United are obviously going to be in for a very difficult game indeed.

However, Manchester United have an abundance of experience at protecting leads at the top of the Premiership league table in the past and Alex Ferguson and his players will know exactly what they have to do in order to safe guard their position at the top and a 4-5-1 formation with Wayne Rooney playing as the lone striker up front looks an obvious choice.

Manchester City v Manchester United Team News

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has a full squad to choose from with both Mario Balotelli and Micah Richards available, although it looks like the 21 year old bad boy will have to be content with a place on the bench due to the current form of both Aguero and Tevez in recent weeks.

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has a whole list of casualties, with Captain Nemanja Vidic, Anderson, Lindegaard, Flether, Pogba, Macheda and Michael Owen all out with respective injury problems. Wayne Rooney looks likely to be handed a solitary role up front as Alex Ferguson will try to attempt to win the midfield battle.

Manchester City v Manchester United Head to Head Statistics

Monday Night’s game will become the 149th meeting between the two clubs over the years and none have been as important at this one. All the results of those previous matches can be seen in our head to head statistics table shown below.

  • Manchester City Victories : 38 (22 at the Etihad Stadium)
  • Draws : 45 (23 at the Etihad Stadium)
  • Manchester United Victories : 55 (25 at the Etihad Stadium)

The Scouts Match Verdict

As the head to head statistics above show, Manchester United have the better record both overall and when playing at the Etihad Stadium and this will obviously provide Alex Ferguson’s side with a great deal of confidence going into the game.

However, it has to be said that this season Manchester City have been at their very best and with a multi million pound squad at his disposal Roberto Mancini does seem to have the slight advantage when it comes down to pure talent that will take to the field on monday evening.

The 6-1 defeat at Old Trafford suffered by Manchester United will obviously be at the back of many of the United players, but they did beat Manchester City in the FA Cup match a few months later and have only lost twice to Manchester City in their last eight meetings.

A difficult game to predict a confident winner from as there really is not much between the two clubs this season from what we have seen so far, but with Manchester City having home advantage and having both Tevez and Aguero leading their attack up front, Roberto Mancini’s side do look the ones that will most likely win this game come the full time whistle.

A very exciting game in prospect regardless if you are a fan or a neutral and one that has a number of betting opportunities available.

Sending Off ? : The last two meetings between the two clubs has seen a Red Card shown and referee Andre Marriner has sent five people of so far this season could easily continue the trend.

  • Bet365 are going 1.70 that there will be over 6 Yellow Cards shown during the game.

Goals ? : Likely to be at least a few goals in this game as the previous three matches between the two sides has seen an incredible ‘Fifteen’ having hit the back of the net.
