Brighton & Hove Albion welcome AFC Bournemouth to the Amex Stadium on monday afternoon, the game is being broadcast live on sky sports premiership high definition, with a scheduled 12:30pm (GMT) kick off time.

Brighton have had a reasonable first half of the season in their first season since their promotion at the end of last season from the championship and although the hosts have only managed to win one of their previous five league matches played, their 0-0 draw away against Newcastle United over the weekend will have certainly installed some much needed confidence to the players.

However, Brighton fans will have been a bit disappointed at that result as their team did manage to boss the game having more possession and more shots on target than Newcastle United and with a packed out amex stadium on monday afternoon, the hosts will certainly fancy their chances in this one.

Bournemouth have just about done enough during the first half of the season to stay ahead of the relegation places and their 2-1 victory at home against Everton over the weekend was a huge result for the club.

However, that was their first win in their previous five matches played and if they are to stay ahead of the bottom three teams, then this is a game that they must pick up at least something to return home with come monday evening.

Brighton & Hove Albion v AFC Bournemouth Head to Head Statistics (Last 5 Meetings)

19/09/17 LEC Bournemouth – Brighton
1 : 0 (AET)
15/09/17 PRL Bournemouth – Brighton 2 : 1
10/04/15 CHA Brighton – Bournemouth 0 : 2
01/11/14 CHA Bournemouth – Brighton 3 : 2
01/01/14 CHA Brighton – Bournemouth
1 : 1

As we can see from the head to head statistics table above which shows the results of the last five meetings between the two clubs, Bournemouth have enjoyed much the better of it having won an impressive four times with Brighton having failed to win any and the remaining match having finished all square.

Based on those numbers, Bournemouth do seem to have the advantage heading into this game, but with the visitors having a number of first team players unavailable due to injury and the hosts almost at full strength, this does put a huge spanner in the data and as such are forced to take a much closer look.

The two clubs have played each other four other times in January since 2001, Bournemouth have won twice, Brighton have won once and the remaining game has finished all square and is yet further data that does seem to lean towards Bournemouth winning this game.

As such and with Bournemouth seemingly having no real problems scoring goals in recent weeks and the whole squad boosted by their 2-1 victory over the weekend against Everton, the visitors are certainly the value play here at their current odds on offer.

Both clubs have injuries to their squad with Brighton & Hove Albion being without the services of S.Sidwell as he continues to recover from a back problem.

AFC Bournemouth have quite an extensive injury list and will be without the services of J.Defoe, A.Federici, T.Mings and B.Smith. J.Stanislas has a minor injury and will be assessed prior to the game to see if he can make the squad.
