Watford v Manchester United Match Preview

Watford have had a solid start to their premiership campaign and currently sit highest out of the three promoted teams in 11th place with only four teams conceding less than themselves.

They will be looking to improve on the attacking side of their game and will be hoping that Troy Deeney can start adding to his tally after getting two in his last three but they will be very happy with their start as they have laid a very strong foundation to build from.

Manchester United have also had a very strong start to their season and similar to Watford, their biggest strength has been their defence as they have now conceded the least in the league with just eight goals in twelve matches. Again similar to Watford, they have struggled for goals so far this campaign with the least goals scored from any of the top seven teams currently.

United will know that they are in for a tough game against Watford here but they will be looking to come away with all three points because it could prove a chance to catch rivals Manchester City as they face Liverpool.

Watford Latest Team News:

Watford are likely to be without Jose Manuel Jurado as he continues to be sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury at the start of October whilst Joel Ekstrand will remain unavailable due to injury.

Manchester United Latest Team News:

Manchester United didn’t escape the international break without problems as Anthony Martial left the match against England on crouches and Michael Carrick picked up an ankle injury against Spain. Antonio Valencia will be out after undergoing surgery which should see Darmian return to right-back whilst both Chris Smalling and Marouane Fellaini will undergo late fitness tests ahead of the game.

26/08/06 BPL Watford vs Manchester United 1 : 2
30/10/00 CAP Watford vs Manchester United 0 : 3
28/04/00 BPL Watford vs Manchester United 2 : 3

These two sides have met just 18 times since 1982 with Watford falling out of the Premiership a couple of times in that period. In those 18 games, Manchester United have dominated Watford with 12 victories to their name whilst losing just twice in the process.

In the 9 matches that have been hosted by Watford, Watford have done slightly better overall as that is where their two wins have came but United still have the advantage going into this one after winning five of those nine meetings.

Using head to head statistics alone it would suggest that Manchester United will be victorious come the full time whistle on Saturday afternoon.

03/10/15 BPL Bournemouth vs Watford 1 : 1

Watford are in decent form at the moment with two wins, two losses and a draw in their last five. They have had relatively tough fixtures facing three of the current op six in those matches and will be very pleased with the amount of points they have gained from their past five games.

Manchester United Recent Form

28/10/15 CAP Manchester United vs Middlesbrough 0 : 0 (1 : 3 Pens)

Manchester United are in pretty strong form after keeping clean sheets in all five of their most recent matches but a lack of goals has meant that they have won just two of those matches.

Manchester United are currently the favourites to win this match but I would not be surprised to see them drop points here as Watford have conceded just four goals at home so far this campaign whilst United have been struggling for goals in recent weeks. Watford vs Manchester United Free Sports Bets, Tips & Predictions

I think this will be a very tight game as both teams have been very strong defensively so far whilst both have struggled for goals which should mean that this game will be a low scoring affair. I could see either team winning this one which is why I have avoided betting on results but as I do see it being a low scoring fixture I have opted for my banker to be the match to see under 2.5 goals and for both teams not to score.

And as for my saver, I have decided to go with Odion Ighalo to score first as he is great value to do so and has been the first goalscorer in four of his last eight matches and with Manchester United struggling in the final third, Watford could easily grab the first goal in front of their home fans.
