Tottenham Hotspur welcome Southampton to White Hart Lane Stadium on Tuesday with the hosts looking to build on their impressive 3-0 victory away against Burnley over the weekend.

Harry Kane continues to show why he has become a number one target for clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus having scored all three goals for his side in that game and if the England striker can get his name on the score-sheet in this match, he will break Alan Shearer’s record of 36 goals in a calendar year !

That victory saw spurs move back up into 5th place in the league table with 34pts and although the league title does seem well out of their reach what with Manchester City playing some very impressive football this season, spurs fans will still be confident of securing an end of season champions league place.

Southampton head into the game having only managed a 1-1 draw at home against premiership newcomers Huddersfield in their match over the weekend and with the club just 3pts above the relegation places below, even a point from this match could prove vital for the visitors.

However, Southampton will be fully aware that they face a tough match come Tuesday afternoon and with Wembley Stadium looking likely to be virtually full, the atmosphere should be electric !

Looking at the recent head to head last five matches table above, it shows that spurs have enjoyed by far the better of things over recent season’s having won three times compared to Southampton having won just the one, with the remaining game having finished all square.

Two of those previous five matches have been played during the month of December, with spurs having won both, scoring six and conceding just one.

Taking everything into consideration, a spurs home win does look forthcoming but with the odds a little short, taking both teams to score and the hosts to win does provide much better value and with four of the last five games having seen both clubs get on the score-sheet, this does look a good option.

Both clubs have a couple of injuries to their squad with Tottenham Hotspur being without the services of T.Alderweireld and V.Wanyama and Southampton missing A.Cedric and R.Bertrand.
